Hi, I’m Nora, founder of Arei.

The story behind Arei

When I got my first period, it was anything but exciting. It was a taboo topic, something to deal with quietly and move on. I felt ashamed, unprepared, and full of questions I didn’t feel comfortable asking. So when it finally arrived, I didn’t celebrate it... I just wanted it to go away.

For years (many, many years!), I didn’t truly understand my cycle. I ignored the shifts in my energy, mood, and body, trying to push through and live as if it didn’t exist. Like so many of us, I only learned to embrace the natural rhythm of my menstrual cycle quite late, in my thirties. I finally started to acknowledge the natural shifts in my mood and energy during my cycle, and started to make small adjustments to the way I lived, worked and organised my days. 

By that time, my lifelong dream of having daughters became a reality. As my eldest daughter approached the age when she’d get her first period, I knew I wanted my girls to have a completely different experience than I did. I wanted them to feel empowered, informed, and excited. I wanted them to know their body, trust it, and celebrate this milestone, rather than feel awkward or unprepared. I wanted to make this once-in-a-lifetime event feel special for them. 

I started searching for the perfect first period kit: one that was safe, sustainable, and actually exciting to receive. But everything I found was… dull. Boring beige, gray and black pads, uninspiring packaging, and nothing that felt uplifting or special. That’s when I knew I had to create it myself, and make it available to other girls as well.

That’s how Arei was born. A brand built to give the new generation of menstruators the support, confidence, and cool products we all wish we had.

But Arei isn’t just for teens. I realized that we, as adults, also deserve period products that feel good to use! Ones that aren’t just functional, but beautiful, inspiring, and made to support us through every cycle of life.

Arei Flow is here to redefine period care with bold designs, high-quality sustainable materials, and a celebration of the menstrual cycle in all its phases. Whether it’s our first period or our hundredth, us and our vulvas deserve safe, non-toxic, comfortable and fun period products!

I am a designer and mother of two wonderful daughters. We live near the beach in Spain, close to Barcelona, and share our home with three adopted cats.
